WORD STUDY

Spelling

We use the Words Their Way spelling program at JES.  This is a fantastic word study program that will help your child with word origins, vocabulary and spelling!

Students will have their spelling sort (or list) for approximately two weeks. During these two weeks, students will learn about their words during small group instruction. They will practice sorting their words and spelling them, and work on a variety of activities to support and extend their understanding of these words.  In addition, students will learn what their words actually mean.  At the end of two weeks, all students will take a test on sorting and spelling their words.  They will be given two grades - a spelling grade and a sorting grade.

Students in Grade 3 have access to instructional videos and Spelling City at school and at home!  To access the spelling videos, students are to log into their school Google Drive and locate the appropriate document with the links. Click HERE to access Spelling City.
